Rides
SheiKra
A fierce, floorless, blazing-fast thriller in the heart of Busch Gardens. After a 200 foot climb, this cunning coaster takes you just over the edge of a true 90-degree drop. And stops. For 4 seconds, you find yourself looking down - straight down - at the ground below as you're held suspended above it. Then, like the sub-Saharan bird of prey for which it's named, you plunge straight toward the ground, racing at speeds of more than 70 miles per hour. An Immelmann loop and a second vertical dive into an underground tunnel end with a surprise twist for those who look on - because with SheiKra, even they cannot escape. The ride is designed so that all passengers get a birds-eye view therefore all seats are good. 8 seats across allows for faster seating. This is the largest roller coaster in Florida.
Cheetah Chase
Travel to Timbuktu and you'll find young kids' favorite ride in the park, Cheetah Chase. This fun-filled family coaster is inspired by the playful side of one of the coolest and the fastest cats on the planet. This wild ride zips, zooms and climbs five stories into the air before bringing riders back down in a roar of laughter. This favorite first coaster wraps around a winding path that's just fast enough for kids to want to hold on tight, yet fun enough for them to want to ride it again. This ride is sometimes called the 'Mouse Chase' at other parks. It's a roller coaster-like ride that seats four people per car. The ride moves quickly and has sharp turns. There are no big drops, but there are some bumps here and there.
Montu
If you're crazy about coasters, Montu has your lucky number: 7. That's the number of insane inversions you'll do on this monster coaster - one of the tallest and longest inverted coasters in the world. Named for an ancient Egyptian god of war, conquering this coaster is a challenge that will test your courage at every turn. Consistently rated as one of the top steel coasters in the world for its unique Batwing inversion and the intense 3.85 Gs you'll feel blazing through this thrilling track, it's easy to see what keeps this beast on the coaster enthusiasts' favorites list year after year. This inverted coaster is a very long ride - longer than most roller coasters. It's well worth a long wait, mostly because it has a very smooth track and extremely fast speeds. This coaster never loses speed even as it goes through a huge number of corkscrews and sharp turns.
Congo River Rapids
The waters of the mighty Congo River are legendary among the world's greatest explorers. Even today, those who dare to ride them never quite know what these powerful waters have in store. Climb aboard for an exciting white water rafting expedition that will send you twirling down this racing river, where thrilling plunges, looming waterfalls and a mysterious water cave are just a few of the surprises it holds. No two journeys are alike - even on the same raft. Whether you're riding high on its foamy waves or getting soaked by one crashing overhead, exploring the many sides of this mighty river will keep you coming back for more.
Rhino Rally
Hop aboard a wild jeep tour that takes you through the wilds of Africa. It's an off-road adventure that combines the thrill of an African safari with the exhilaration and drama of an amazing water adventure, Rhino Rally takes you up-close to exotic animals and to the edge of your seat as you trek across the wide open veldt, then race to cross a rising river.
Stanley Falls
Stanleyville is one of the favorite places in the park to cool your heels, and a visit here wouldn't be complete without a trip down Stanley Falls. This log flume ride is just the ticket when you're ready for a splash in the Florida sun. But these falls aren't for the faint of heart. Riders are rushed along a current over the water's edge and down a plummeting 40-foot drop before splashing to the base of these racing falls. Stanley Falls is a fun water ride that usually has a long line, especially on ultra-hot days. This ride is similar to that of a log flume. Each flume can seat up to four passengers, with the smallest in front and largest in back. There are a few drops on this fast-moving ride, and the last drop is the one that usually gets people drenched. However, you are not guaranteed to get drenched. It depends on the weight of the boat and the size of the people, along with what part of the flume you are seated in.
Scorpion
Masterful design and a timeless looping track make it easy to fall under the Scorpion's spell. The vision of legendary coaster designer Anton Schwarzkopf, the Scorpion is one of only three of its kind remaining in the world today, yet its sting is every bit as effective at instilling thrills through every twist and turn. Race through this desert jewel at speeds of more than 50 miles an hour. Then dive into a 360-degree vertical loop, where 3Gs of force will send you spiraling forward for an unforgettable ride. Make your way to Timbuktu and feel the sting of the Scorpion. This roller coaster is especially built for beginners. Goes at a steady pace that's nothing too exciting, and a loop or two. Very rarely has long lines - even in the peak season.
Gwazi
A colossal coaster with a record-breaking six fly-bys, Gwazi still reigns as one of the largest and fastest wooden double roller coasters on the planet and one of the favorites at Busch Gardens. With crossing speeds of 100 miles an hour, it's easy to see why this legendary coaster has been recognized with so many consecutive awards by coaster enthusiasts. Name for a fabled animal with the body of a lion and the head of a tiger, riders race along each of the big cats' territories, only to find themselves caught in a determined battle between two top predators. Whose side will you take? That choice is up to you.
Tanganyika Tidal Wave
If you've ever dreamed of exploring the great rivers of a mighty jungle, step aboard the Tanganyika Tidal Wave. But be prepared, as the jungle likes to surprise those who venture there. What begins as a scenic journey ends with a sudden plunge down a staggering 55-foot drop into the waters below, sending a monstrous wave of water into the air that engulfs everyone in its path. The bridge at the base of the final plunge lets spectators have almost as much fun as the riders. But keep your distance if you want to stay dry! Those standing by are bound to get seriously soaked.
Kumba
It is said that if you can hear the roar of a lion in the distance, you have crossed into his territory. And have been warned. The natives call his roar the Kumba. And you'll feel his breath on the back of your neck from the moment you step aboard the mighty coaster that earned his name. Consistently voted one of the world's top roller coasters by enthusiasts around the world, this legendary beast takes you from hair-raising heights to absolute weightlessness through seven inversions, all with the grace and speed of this magnificent predator. Once you hear its roar calling you, you may never break its spell. Need an extra jolt? Those sitting in the back row should prepare themselves to be thrown around like a ping-pong ball on a ping-pong table.
